# Use pptGPT from Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant

pptGPT is a collaborative presentation editor with a user-authorized MCP connection. It is not an anonymous agent signup service.

## Connect

1. **Connect pptGPT in your assistant.** In a supported Claude, ChatGPT or other MCP client, add https://pptgpt.app/api/mcp as a remote Streamable HTTP MCP server. Connector availability depends on your assistant’s plan and administrator policies.

2. **Sign in and authorize your account.** Follow the connector’s OAuth sign-in link. A person signs in with Google or Microsoft; a new pptGPT account is created during sign-in if needed. Review and authorize the connection. The assistant acts for that account, not an independent agent account.

3. **Keep pptGPT open.** The assistant works in your own pptGPT tab: keep it open with External assistants enabled (Settings → External assistants) while the assistant works, and watch the changes as they happen.

4. **Ask for the work in chat.** Start a fresh assistant session if its tools have not loaded. Ask it to find a project or deck, create one from a template, or revise slides. Changes appear in pptGPT, and you can review, undo, or continue editing them yourself.

## Connection details

- MCP server: https://pptgpt.app/api/mcp
- Transport: Streamable HTTP; JSON-RPC POST, no server-initiated SSE stream.
- Authentication: OAuth authorization code with PKCE (S256), or a revocable personal access token created by the user in Settings. Send bearer tokens only in the Authorization header.
- OAuth protected resource: https://pptgpt.app/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/api/mcp
- OAuth authorization server: https://pptgpt.app/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server
- User setup: https://pptgpt.app/settings#external-assistants
- Human-readable guide: https://pptgpt.app/agents

## First tool calls

After MCP initialization, call tools/list for the current tool schemas. Use list_open_decks to find open decks or workspace_overview for projects and files. Find or create a project, create_deck from a template when appropriate, then open_deck and read_deck before editing. Obtain arguments from the tool schemas rather than guessing.

## Ownership, cost and limits

- Workspace ownership, permissions, billing and credits stay with the person or organization that authorized the connection.
- Your external assistant’s own reasoning uses its provider’s plan. Tools calling pptGPT’s AI, such as image generation, use your pptGPT credits.
- MCP editing runs in the user’s open pptGPT tab. CV update proposals are confirmed by the user in the assistant’s chat before anything is saved.
- The MCP tool surface includes workspace search, project/deck creation and slide editing, template guidance, pictures, charts, tables and layout review. Use tools/list for the current schemas.
- Billing, organization membership, sharing permissions, file deletion, comments and spreadsheet editing are not exposed as general MCP management tools. Use the app for those workflows.
- A person must authorize access. OAuth client registration identifies a connector; it does not create a user, grant signup credits, or let an anonymous agent act in a workspace.
- Disconnect a browser’s External assistants switch or revoke the connection in Settings → External assistants when access should end.

## Example request

“In pptGPT, find my quarterly review project, create a deck using our template, and turn the project’s report into six slides. Keep the source figures and show me the result.”
