Privacy & Security

This page describes what data pptGPT stores, where it is stored, and when information may be shared with third-party providers that support authentication, billing, AI features, storage, and collaboration.

Storage depends on feature

pptGPT is no longer a stateless translator. Some workspace data is stored locally in your browser, and some collaboration, sharing, and asset data is stored in cloud services used by the app.

Processing uses third parties

When you use AI features, sign in, collaborate, share, or pay, data may be processed by providers such as OpenAI, Google Gemini, Google, Microsoft, Liveblocks, Cloudflare R2, Stripe, and our hosting/database providers.

1. What we collect

Account data: Name, email address, and profile image from the identity provider you use to sign in. The app currently supports Google and Microsoft Azure AD.

Workspace and presentation metadata: Presentation titles, slide counts, thumbnails, sharing settings, collaborator relationships, storage usage, token balances, subscription status, and usage history.

Google Slides connection data: If you connect Google Slides, access and refresh tokens needed to access that integration may be stored in our database.

Billing data: Stripe customer, subscription, and checkout metadata needed to process token purchases and subscriptions. We do not store your full card details.

2. Where your content is stored

In your browser

The workspace system stores files, folders, assets, preferences, and other local workspace data in your browser using IndexedDB.

In collaboration services

Shared and collaborative editing sessions use Liveblocks. Presentation metadata for sharing and access control is stored in our application database.

In asset storage

Uploaded and generated media may be stored in Cloudflare R2 so the editor, collaboration features, and exports can use those assets reliably.

3. When data is sent to AI providers

If you use AI features, we may send prompts and relevant presentation content to external AI providers. Depending on the feature, that may include slide text, chart labels, images, or other assets you ask the model to work on.

The current stack includes OpenAI and Google Gemini for language and image-related features. Their processing and retention practices are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

4. Sharing and collaboration

If you create a share link, anyone with that link may be able to view the presentation, and may be able to edit it if you enable public editing. Shared links are controlled by tokens stored in our database.

During collaborative sessions, presence information such as your name, avatar, cursor color, cursor position, selected slide, and editing state may be visible to other participants.

5. Third-party services in the current stack

We currently use services in categories including:

  • Authentication: Google and Microsoft Azure AD via NextAuth
  • Database and application backend: PostgreSQL with Prisma
  • Collaboration and presence: Liveblocks
  • Media and file storage: Cloudflare R2
  • Billing: Stripe
  • AI features: OpenAI and Google Gemini
  • Google Slides integration: Google APIs when you explicitly connect that feature

6. Retention and deletion

Account and billing-related records are retained while your account is active, and for any additional period required for operational, security, fraud-prevention, or legal reasons.

Workspace data stored locally in your browser may remain on your device until you delete it, clear browser storage, or remove it through the app.

Cloud-stored assets and collaboration records may remain until removed through the app or through account/presentation deletion workflows. Deleting a user account removes user records in our database, but browser-local data on your device is not remotely cleared.

7. Your choices

You can request or perform the following, depending on the feature:

  • Delete your account through the account deletion flow
  • Revoke presentation share links
  • Remove presentations, assets, and local workspace files
  • Disconnect from Google Slides by removing access or deleting your account

8. Security

We use HTTPS/TLS for network transport and rely on the security controls of the services in our stack. No system is perfectly secure, so you should avoid sharing confidential data through features such as public share links unless you are comfortable with that risk.
